Set against the looming threat of 2022 wildfires in Calabria, this short documentary follows a local winemaker forced to harvest early, negotiating urgency, tradition, and the unpredictability of a changing climate. While the film documents an environmental crisis, it is equally concerned with interior landscapes—the quiet, emotional disaster unfolding within its subject. As director Andree Ljutica notes, “It is with profound sadness that this topic of global decay and natural disaster is so readily available for documentation. But with Wildfire, I was equally interested in the push and pull between personal urgency and the broader exigencies of the moment.” The film premiered on Documentary+ and laid the foundation for his feature Rare Animals.
